I'm looking to buy the following pieces. Anyone know which CDs they can be found on?

    Chopin - Nocturne in C, Op72 No 1
    Bach - Inventions
Bach - French Suite No. 5
    Mozart - Sonata in C, K545
Reizenstein - Toccatina from 5 Pieces

    Thanks.

    Did you try amazon.co.uk?

Have you tried Youtube? I'd say most of them are on there.

The Chopin should be on your normal Chopin Nocturnes compilation disc—make sure to check in case not all of them are included. The Bach Inventions and French Suite should be on discs of their own—Glenn Gould has pretty good recordings of the Inventions, though the French Suites are not as good from what I remember.

As far as the Mozart goes, it might be trickier to get a good recording of that particular one. Though it is on Glenn Gould's Mozart album (slightly eccentric interpretations though!!).

Would stay clear of the Gould unless you are already familiar with the work (sorry Gouldisti !). Try the Mitsuko Uchida version. Amazon should have it.

You're absolutely right Sandwich—couldn't think of any other CD (apart from complete sonatas sets) that might have it, though I am sure there must be a few!

    Err...iTunes?

Only Rubinstein can play Chopin. The nocturnes are on these albums, but Op. 72 No. 1 isn't in C.

Gould is great at Bach, but a bit strange. Here's the Inventions and the French Suites.

Mozart: Avoid "Best 100 Mozart", etc. I don't really know who the great Mozart performers are, but the one on this recording sounds pretty good, and it's less than three quid for the whole piece.

I don't know the Reizenstein, and can't find it on iTunes, sorry.

I like Rubenstein, but alot has to be said for Barenboim and Ashkenazy as well!

Variety, spices, and all that jazz. :)

Ashkenazy!? Yeugh! He's the reason that for years I thought I didn't like Chopin.

    Haven't heard Barenboim's Chopin, though...

    haha! :)

Ashkenazy is as sugary as you like....but its nice to have contrasts. I love Barenboim, whatever he plays. Its his knack for having a reason for absolutely every dynamic or expression he uses that makes him fantastic imo.
