Eyelet curtains for patio door - how to make them work?

Sorry for the long title - it summarises things!

We have a patio door and have bought eyelet curtains. We only have space on one side of the door, so the curtain will always have to be pulled back to the left-hand side. Therefore, we can't have a curtain pole with a support in the middle. The patio door is about 6' wide, which is the same as the maximum width of the single-piece poles. I can get the flat PVC rails, but can't see any way to use our eyelet curtains with a rail.

    Hope I've made myself clear!

Any thoughts on how I can get out of this problem?

It has to be a pole.Depending on the make You will find some 8ft poles in 1 piece-Cut down to about 7ft will work with no centre bracket assuming the curtains aren't too heavy. Also it is important to avoid telescopic poles as the eyelets will not pass the join smoothly.

Hope this makes sense-if not come back to me.

Great - thanks for that. Can anyone suggest where to find 8' 1-piece poles? Dublin area.

Any of the large department stores in Dublin should carry 1 piece 8ft poles, Clerys, Arnotts, Harry Corrys etc, also hardware stores like Atlantic and B&Q.
Also since you are using eyelet curtains, you obviously wont need the rings that come with the pole. Put them away safely somewhere incase you change to a pleated curtain down the road.

Hi, this post is a bit old, but I'll try anyway. I am also hanging curtains on patio door in the same way. But I want to buy ready made curtains. As you know ready made come in a pair.
What did you do, did you have one large single curtain, did you just hang the pair or did you join together the pair to make one.
I think without joining them it may look a bit silly?

Ive a ready made pair on my patio door - curtain pole over the door and just pull the curtains aside to each side of the door - same as a window.

Curtains don't always come in a pair you can sometimes buy just one curtain, they're called door curtains, http://www.littlewoodsireland.ie/fairmont-lined-thermal-door-curtains/673846973.prd but even if you do buy a pair once you have them gathered together and hung to one side with a tie back of some kind nobody would even notice, in fact it would probably look better with the extra fullness.
