See my recent reply to a similar question . . . it's so good I just had to repeat it.

"Honeymoon ideas, eh ? If female I suggest talking to your ma or some good friends who are already married - they can explain what happens. If male just do what she says on the night and you'll be grand."

But seriously . . . I would avoid somewhere like the Maldives. I don't know what it is with people these days but when I got married the last thing I wanted to do was fly to London, hang around Heathrow, fly (for a long time)to somewhere nearish to where I was going, hang around there for a while, get on a smaller plane, fly quite near where I ultimately wanted to go, and then transfer again and eventually get to somewhere heavenly which only took me 22 hours and 4 changes to get to, right after *the most exhausting* few weeks of my entire life (up to then).

I would suggest somewhere in Europe or the US - it's not as if there aren't enough fancy places nearby to go to. Places can be as romantic as you want them to be. There's touristy Spain and their's steeped in history & romance Spain. It's the same place, it just requires a little thought.

Myself and my young wife did our honeymoon in the Middle east.

Dublin -> 3 nights in Dubai
then flew to Luxor in Egypt via Quatar
3 nights in Luxor staying in an island resort on the Nile (v romantic)
Then flew to cairo and spent 2 nights there.
And then onto Istanbul for another 2 nights (great city).
    And then back home.

Had personal tour guides and drivers booked for our days in Luxor and Cairo to see the history

Great fun, travel wasnt much of a bother, great weather.
    All 5-star
came to about €6000 in the boom prices

A idea of your budget would help.

I'd expect Florida, Maldives, Egypt and Middle East to have temperatures above 30 in August. Even Rome's average temperature for August is 30 c.

The Maldives in March/April (for example) is exceptionally hot (but a paradise honeymoon location). Dubai was worse. I would look at the cruise option if I were you.
