    Hi Guys,

With everything in the music industry being so dublincentric, I believe its time we in the Wesht pooled our resources, expertise, gigging experience, knowledge of venues fans etc and start supporting each other and growing our talents. Im just throwing out a feeler to see what kind of response i will get.. It would be nice to get Hot Press and IMRO interested in a Showcase West.

hows a going man im in a band in dublin but looking to get our music over to the west of ireland any chance ya can spot us a slot?

Hope to hear from ya soon

    """""Hi,

It appears from previous posts that you have made that you are also a promoter, so I;m afraid Its up to each band to get their gigs. No offence, but along the western seaboard, its dog eat dog as there are so few venues. it has taken us months to get into some venues, so Im afraid we have enough on our plate to try and maintain our employment. Best of luck with the gigs. If you are out west and have a gig organised, let us know and we may give you a support slot.
    regards, p"""""

Well considering that thats the response i got from ya i dont think that many people are really going to like your attitude..

    best of luck

Attitude??! Greenpilot is doing something good for HIS AREA and within a day a Dublin band is asking for help. Get your own gigs/do a gig swap with a west Ireland band. Stop asking for 'free slots' nobody will give them to you.

I have done gig swaps with bands from the west of ireland i saw a organizer whos job it is to get bands in to play music, but when i asked him if he would consider a band i know for a slot he turned it down because im a promoter myself, I didnt ask for money all i asked for was a chance to get these lads out to the west of ireland not in a headline or any of the main slots in a support slot.

Turning down a request because someone else is a promoter is total and utter bull**** and is pretty bad taste, like i said in a earlier post yes i was a prick when i first got into this but ive adjusted my attitude and will give anyone a chance whether their a promoter or a famous international act or if their a band who have been jamming for two weeks in a garage.

The only way the music industry is going to keep going is if we have each others backs but the fact that greenpilot turned down my request because i am myself a promoter is ridicilous.

So yes reillyer06 i do believe there is a bit of attitude there. Greenpilot good luck with the gigs hope ya's do well.
