    Hello

I was hoping that some one could help me. I am looking to apply to join the PSNI and have done for a few years now and now is the time. Unfortunately i have motor convictions, while going over the www.joinpsni.co.uk website's FAQ'S section i found the following question 15. I have a criminal record can i join the PSNI? While going over this section i noticed that anyone with the following convictions will not be considered further (I will only state convictions relevant to me)

*Until 10 years has elapsed since conviction for any of the following: Dangerous Driving; 'Hit and Run Accident' offences; Drink Driving offences (including drugs); Driving Whilst Disqualified; Taking a Vehicle Without Authority; Vehicle Interference and associated fraudulently altering documents.

I will not go into detail of the offence. If i apply and get to the vetting stage will i be refused due to this conviction or will each application be looked at on an individual bases

    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.

Just to add i got accepted for my SIA security licence. We have a vetting stage to do for this also. No way as complicated as the vetting for the PSNI ofcourse. But i just thought id add this.

    Thanks

someone more senior such as PSNI could give a more definitive answer but from a purely HR point of view its a criteria for application

Have done via PM. For any other interested parties, the answer is no, the OP is wasting his time applying. He must wait the waiting period from the date of conviction before his application will be considered.
