Just wondering if anyone from Boards has stayed here and how they got on? We're going for 2 weeks in July, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 8 and 11. Any pointers would be appreciated!:)

Excellent place. I spent two very good weeks there a couple of years ago. It will be very very hot in July though.

If you can, try and upgrade your room to a swimup room. Those rooms have a small patio area leading straight on to a pool, which is for the use of people staying in those rooms. You will also get one voucher each for a meal in each of the ala carte restaurants each week, book these as the main restaurant gets a bit boring after a while.

The evening entertainment is a bit "tacky" but we found it very enjoyable. It is based in an ampitheatre down towards the beach. Grab a few beers from the bar and then sit back and enjoy.

A couple we met there did the quadbike safari and loved it, you can leave the kids in the kids club for a couple of hours and clear off no problem as they are very well run. In fact, I was jealous of the kids as they have a really good time, especially on the zip wire.

It will be about 60% British, 39% Russian and 1% Irish and despote what people think about the Brits abroad, they will be a lot friendlier than the Russians but you generally speaking, most people are going for a relaxing family holiday so the atmosphere is excellent. Unless it has changed massivwly, you will have a great time, First Choice have got these Holiday villages off to a fine art..

Thanks for your reply. Really looking forward to it! We can't upgrade to a swim up room because you can't have one with kids under 12 :( Pity, would be nice... Just wondering did you venture out of the place at night time?

Phone Falcon, because we were in the same boat but when we got there, people who had booked through First Choice were in those rooms with kids.

TBH, we didn't go beyond the markets opposite the hotel. i went out diving a few times, but that was it. We didn't really see any real need to go out, apart from the centre of Sharm (Which is miles away) everything around there is new hotels and markets built in the desert, so it's not like there is much in the way of local culture.

You can do day trips etc if you want, but as i say, we didn't bother.

from what i could see though, it is a pretty safe area, the Egyptians take great pride in their reputation as a safe place (plus there are police road blocks up and down the main road) so they keep it very tidy.
