Played my 1st round of the year today.
Lovely sunny day at The Portmarnock Links.
    Course in very good condition.

    Ended up shooting a 74 (+4).
Absolutley delighted with that. That's my best ever score on that course.

Great start to the year. Playing again on Saturday.
Great to be back out there playing again :)

+4! Well done. Also my first round of the new year/decade and the first day the course was open this year following course inspection this morning. Didn't expect it to be open due to the frost on the car last night so I over indulged. The first 9 were a nightmare but back 9 I sobered up, steadied myself and won the back nine & over-all. A golfing buddy broke my hangover slumber all excited when he rang to tell me about the prospect of the course being open. He sounded like a child on Christmas morning! In fairness, we could have given the course another few days to recover from the torrential rain we experienced recently as remarked by my fellow golfers also. Some of the greens were sponges and the ball plugged so far in that it was barely visible above the surface. I felt the fact that I hadn't played in some time - I was knackered!

Great scoring there Dublin Spur, thats some going.

Nowhere near as good here. 32 points off 11 but was happy as it was my first competitive game in ages. I had four three putt's, each of those I was on in regulation  Biggest problem though was my touch around the greens, chipping so poor, I could really feel there was a lot of rust there. I thined or caught heavy at least 4 or 5 chip shots around the greens, all of which where you should be getting up and down from. You know when the grass is that wet its easy to get too much of the ground. Those four 3 putt's aside, I actually putted quite well, if that makes sense at all!!

Must say that was my most enjoyable round for ages, great being back out in very playable weather conditions.
