Hi, does anyone know if there is a price difference between paying for checked-in bags online as against doing so at the airport with Ryanair?

This is each way so if book online (regardless of whether you only intend to take bag one way) so its really €30 online for a bag in the hold.

If you are only 'maybe' putting in hold lugggage 1 way then just pay at airport (be in time to queue) - if coming back via uk the charge is of course in Sterling so actually more like €40 for one way.

If you are nearly sure that you are checking in a bag, even 1 way then definitely save time and money to book it in advance.

I do not believe you must do it with the initial booking so long as you log into manage booking you can add the bag later - so if travelling in May, why pay for the bags now??

    Hope this helps a bit.

Ya, I'm not really sure if I'll need to check in a bag so I'll just do it at the last minute online after I've packed.

I don't fly Ryanair often enough to be familiar with their charges but instead of booking a return flight I ended up booking a flight to my destination originating from one airport and my flight home coming back to a different airport. The frustrating part about it was that it wouldn't let me do so as part of the one booking so I had to pay the handling fee twice. So annoying

The handling fee is per-flight anyway. So no loss there. If they had let you do it all as one booking, you would still have paid the handling fee twice. I guess that is good news of sorts :).

I dunno whether I should find that incredibly annoying or if I should take comfort from the fact that everyone else is as equally disadvantaged as myself :)

Not everyone is as disadvantaged. You can stop paying handling fees by getting a free Prepaid MasterCard from Netteller.

Just go with someone else. Ryanair do not want people checking bags. They will rape you if your bag is any bit over weight and €30 for one 15kg bag is disgraceful. Utter shower of ****es in that airline.
