Quite a random question, but any prediction on the points for BESS for this year 2010?

I think your pretty much wrong in almost all of what you said. People who are interested in subjects like sociology and politics should probably have taken these as part of a TSM. While the students who like business take BESS. I also agree with what people have already said, that taking business to 4th year possibly combined with economics or politics makes you mush more employable than do a single degree in a subject like sociology. I'm currently doing BESS and the general feeling towards sociology is negative and so while valuable for 1st year students in understanding society it really is the least useful subject in the BESS program. That said i don't your idea of disbanding BESS and creating 2+ different courses out of it is very good. BESS offers the unique combination of Business and Humanities and the option to take a language that other courses eg. Commerce, just doesn't offer (i know commerce can be taken with a language but each one is a different course with different points).

I'm fairly certain that politics cannot be taken as a TSM.

I also am fairly sure that (besides perhaps Politics and Geography) BESS is the lowest points way of studying politics and definatley the lowest points route to combine Politics and Economics which I would imagine is a reasonably popular subject combination.

btw this is from the perspective of someone who just filled in their CAO and put BESS down as no.4 with no interest whatsoever in studying business. For those unlikely to get over 500 who want to study politics, BESS is probably the best way to do it.

It has been between 470 and 480 for the last few years now.

personally i believe that points this year are going to shoot up in most courses so i would say maybe add on 5 points to last yr points or even maybe 10, personally if it is your goal aim for 490 just incase

    Why do you think that?

    Why do you think that?

do to the present economic situation less and less people are applying for large point courses like architecture and engineering etc, so demand for other courses with high points is going to go up

plus, more and more people are applying to the CAO cause atm apprentiships etc are dead end jobs as no one is taking on apprentices so as more people apply demand increases and therefore points increase

business courses have always been popular but due to the variety in the BESS course it stands out from other such degrees and because of that will have more applicants.

so for those reasons is why i think that BESS point requirements will increase

but sure only time will tell
