    Howdy,
Need some help with my cousins Laptop. Her Niece decided to put a password on the user and cannot remember what she put, so they cannot use the laptop.
Is there anyway to bypass the password so they can access and use the laptop and remove the password???
It is a Toshiba with Winows Vista
    Thanks,
    G

First, go to the login screen and press Ctrl alt del twice. It should bring up a classic style login. Type administrator as the username and blank password.
They may have left the default admin account blank so may work. If not.

There are some password reset tools you can get.

Personally I have a Hirens 10.0 Boot CD. Has loads of utilities including a password blanker. You boot to the CD and run that tool. You can find the .iso of the disc online easy enough.

There may be an easier way though.

Yeah, the same way you set them in the first place. Just leave the new password area blank. Obviously you now know that the Bios (boot) password is nothing to do with the windows password.

Cheers will try that now, just want to get rid of them as when you turn on the laptop now it asks for both of these before loading the normal login window. Cousin ain't the best at pass words ha ha

Unfortunately this only works if Windows was setup a particular way at first. And I know it works with XP, possibly not Vista. A password blanker is your best bet. As I said making a hirens CD is how I do it but there may be another way.

I'm not familar with Toshibas boot menu, but there has to be a way of turning off the passwords.
