    Hi All,
Fell on an icy road today and it looks like I've bent the hangar.
It's a fairly new bike, the planet x carbon with ultegra for 999 from october.

Just wondering do I need a new hanger from planet x, or will any ultegra hanger do?
I suppose I'm presuming it's ultegra specific, and not the same connectionon all bikes, e.g.pedals.

I haven't taken the back part off yet to see if the other components are bent. Here's hoping.
    Cheers for the advice.

the hangar is bike specific. i had to replace one on a claud butler a while back. i found it on the net for i think about 10 euros. it seemed to be a standard item for a few different frame makes. its a good idea to have a spare one in the tool box .... must order another one for my bike.

Call planet X and get one. In fact get 2 or 3. Bent hangars are the number one cause of poor shifting. And its very easy to bend them. I saw a mechanic on the RAS lift a rider out of it, telling him he was a tool turning up for the race with a 7000 euro bike and no spare hangar after he fell and made his bike basically worthless. In the end they straightened it in a vice and it got him through the rest of the race but snapped in half very shortly afterwards.

Good advice about getting 2 or 3 spare. Especially if it looks like it can be fitted with an alan key and a spanner on the roadside.
