I picked up a 316i compact at the end of last year, and while it runs almost perfectly there are a few things i'd like to get checked out.

While i know of AC in Dublin it would suit better to get work/services done in Limerick/Clare.

Are there any good/recommended independent BMW mechanics around Limerick city or the Clare boarder ?

    Abbeyfeale close enough?

    http://www.bavarianautotechnik.com/

Note you don't absolutely need a BMW specialist, most cars are the same, it just helps if you have a niggly problem that a specialist in your particular marque has most likely come across in the past. Also if you are looking for 2nd hand bits they normally have their finger on the pulse there.

Also if you are looking for some Irish BMW specific help here can often be a good place to start:

A lot of boardies are registered here as well with the same user names.

You could try RS Auto in Clondrinagh, Limerick.
He's just off the DC coming from Shannon to Limerick.

I might give bavarianautotechnik a call and see what they say, the main reason i'd like a specific BMW indy would be that she's a 95 compact, and i'm sure it'll really need some TLC.

I was over by RS auto yesterday strangely enough. so if the other turns out to be a hike i'll take a trip in to those chaps

If Mike in R.S Auto doesnt know it,it's not worth knowing.

    Just my 2 cents.

Does RS autos = clondrinagh motor centre, CMC were quick to advertise for BMW business when Pat Keogh shut?

Bavarian Auto Technik are friendly and helpful. I think he uses german sources for some stuff so can get better deals?

There was another place opened in Limerick near the cement factory/driving test centre when Pat Keogh closed- Alpina, dunno anything about em.

Bavarian Auto Technik look good, but there a fair little spin away, altho whoever i go to will be getting a fair few euro's off me, customer service dependant.

i'll ask the misses if she know who's down around the cement factory/driving test centre, i'm not a Lim native :D

Don't know about clondrinagh but Alpina motors on dock road best garage around. Friendly efficient and what they don't know about cars in particular bmws and German cars is not worth knowing.

I got a small bit of work done in CMC last week. Was very happy with the job, he charges by the minute not the hour. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and I'd safely guess that if you went main dealer they would charge twice yet hold half as much knowledge of their bmws.
As for that outfit on the dock road, I went in for a quote and was met with such ignorance and rudeness from the proprietor I walked back out and took my business elsewhere. And apparently its quite normal for CMC to get a nice amount of trade off the back of the customer service experienced in alpina.

Never knew CMC charge by the minute - does it work out cheaper? The OH brings in her BMW there all the time, and always gets a good rate. Although they havent managed to fix an issue with the reverse light, and its been in twice already

I couldn't agree with Alpina not having good customer service. Owner stands over all his work and there is no job he cannot fix. I find them very friendly and efficient. Take my car husbands and sons car there all the time.

I've been using CMC for the last 3 years and have no reason to go anywhere else. My sister and father get their non BMW cars serviced there and are very happy.
