Ok i know im probably a year or more late but after watching slumdog millionaire lastnight i just had to express what an amazing film it is.
I didnt get into all the hype when it was in the cinema, i just thought to myself how could a film about who wants to be a millionaire be any good- more fool me.
So after recording it on sky+ when it was on channel4 recently i sat down with the wife lastnight to watch it, both of us more curious than anything.
Lets just say both of us just cant get this film out of our heads this morning.
We shed some tears at some parts of the movie, when it ended we were both in daze, so many emotions going round our heads.
Its been years since a movie made me feel that way if at all.
Everything about it, even the music just refuses to leave my thoughts.
Ive spent the morning getting as much info as i could off the net about the movie, characters, their real life actors, the music everything [God bless youtube :)]

Please say im not the only one affected like this by this movie after you first watched it :)
A truely epic movie and easily in my top 5 movies ever,im raging i didnt go to see it upon cinema release.
I just have to buy the soundtrack as every track evokes scenes from the movie allover again.

Have you seen City of God

Similar setting but superior in every conceivable way.

I honestly didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the hype made it out to be, most definitely not 8 Oscars good.

See City of God as Leimrod said.

Maybe the fact i watched it a year on with no hype made it a better experience ,who knows.
Thanks for the tip about City of God.

I can see why you'd think that.

Fortunately I saw it before anyone had heard of it and loved it. Sometimes the hype can really hinder what you might have seen. If you get me!

I was in the same situation and pretty much agree 100% with OP, even had it sky plussed and all ha, one thing which will stay with me is how the presenter actually said millionaire, was like he left out the double L's or something ha

It's a very good movie, the level of smug self satisfaction and the lets give ourselves a big pat on the back type attitude last year at the oscars still makes me cringe though. Danny Boyle is a great director but after all that sh1te i can't help but harbour a slight hatred for him.

Oh and +1 on City of God.

Other than the fact that some of the characters in each film are from the slums, I cannot see the rationale behind comparing Slumdog with City of God.

    Very different styles of film.

Same here, i saw this on opening day when it came out, knowing nothing about it and thinking, "it looks a bit crap, but ill give it a go" as it was one of the few showings on when i went to see it.
After that, i was VERY pleasantly surprised and couldn't for the life of me understand why there is so much bashing over it since. It could well be all the hype, none of which i was subjected to which is all the better as it still stands out in my mind as a fantastic film.

One of the most disappointing films I ever saw. I genuinely thought it was rubbish. Isn't it great we dont all agree all the time!

Lol, me too. I had sky +'d it too and just got to watch it the other day. I was so turned off this film by all the hype I was sure I wouldn't like it. I'm not saying I loved it, but I did really like it.
