JSA and part time work

I have an idea of how this works, but I'm not certain.

If I work three or fewer days then I'm still entitled to some JSA. Each day that I work I'm allowed the first €20 without a means test and then means tested 60% from the rest.

e.g. If I worked three days at €35 per day then JSA would work out as €45 means tested, so deduct 60% = €27 from the full €196.

Is this correct or am I missing something, it seems to be better if I could spread my hours over three days although I had been under the impression that I'm also deducted a certain amount for each day worked, but I couldn't find anything about this.

I will have some (but not full) flexibility about when I work so I'm trying to figure out how it all works out.

    Hi
I'm on JSA and have just had my means test (it took 4 months!!, I was on JSA before stating this temp pt job). I had to give them a form from my employer which showed my earnings over 13 weeks (and how many days a week I worked).

The calculation then consists of dividing the money earned by the days and working out a "daily rate" that you earn. This is the means figure deducted each day you work.

As far as I can tell now that I have my daily rate figure the number of days worked isn't as big a factor as the amount I earn (unlike JSB when it is).

Hopefully this is making some kind of sense.....I will see, should be getting my first cheque today. Ironically I finish the job in a few weeks.
