    hi can anyone tell me the difference between a smear test and a pap smear?

    I thought they were the same thing. Isn't a pap smear what americans call a smear test.

    Definitely the same thing

    Stands for Papanicolaou test/smear (although people never really use the full name and good luck trying to say it after a few drinks! :) )

    You can also have a test called a peripheral blood smear, testing for something like malaria but I very much doubt this is what she's talking about!
