A question for those who know cars; my brother was test-driving cars today and drove this 2002 BMW 318 2.0l: http://www.carzone.ie/search/BMW/3-S...t?channel=CARS

It is in great condition for an 8 year old car. My bro didn't really negotiate much on price as he is going to get a mechanic to look over the cars he's really interested in first, but the dealer said his best price was €8,250 and flatly rejected a suggestion of €7,500, saying he couldn't come close to this. How much do you think it is worth / how much can my bro expect to get this for, if he goes for it? No trade in, no finance, it will be his first car (he used to driving a Yaris so it will be a step up I suppose!)

    ah It's a 318Ci

looks nice. verify service history and get someone to give the bodywork a once-over.

I sold an immaculate 02 330ci clubsport in November with every extra known to man leather etc on it, 65k miles, complete service history and all receipts snce the day it was bought etc etc

I got 7500 for it, and I think it was a decent price

Personally I would probably rather go with this one, it has a genuine M kit and it is cheaper. Not a coupe, but with the M tech body kit, it looks much better than a coupe SE pre-facelift.

that car is underspecced and overpriced. does it have to be a manual? my bro bought an 02 318ci in June 09, it has sun roof, multi function steering wheel, air con, he paid E8500. The car you have linked to is worth 8k max! maybe E8250 at a push, but given the lack of spec i dont think it warrants that price. I just took a look on carzone for 02 - 03 coupes, i dont see any outstanding ones at the moment. are you in a rush to buy? i also drive a 318ci, i have viewed alot of them and done alot of research on them, so hopefully i can help...

Op, check out the below link. 6.5k from a dealer for an 02 coupe. might be worth asking for a few photos? no mention of leather but it does have mfsw and leather... 100k miles though! but I suppose thats why its E2500 cheaper. How long does your bro intend on keeping the car?

I think he'll keep it for at least 4 years - it is a substantial purchase for him so he'll get as much as he can from it! :)

From sitting in the back seat while he was giving it a test drive, it seems very nice, quite nippy and pretty comfortable; that said, he's the one shelling out the cash and not me! He's getting a mechanic to give it a once-over sometime this week I think.

I'm selling my 2001 318 Ci at the moment and with the price at €6,950, I'm finally starting to get interest in it.

    Hi

I think that car is overpriced to the and franky i wouldn give anymore than 7600/7750 for it.

I actually own that model, same colour same year. bought it in London though. Mine does not have the leather but admittedly im not a leather fan but it has all the extras. Multi function Steering wheel, trip computer, rear parking sensors 6 disc cd changer.

Lovely car to drive. But im afraid he'll be disappointed if he doesnt hold out for a better spec'd one. Seriously though he is prob dying to just pick it up and is itching to buy, but think with his head. I wouldnt buy that model there is nothing in it that excites me in comparison to mine.

My 2 cents, best of luck. There are alot of these available so keep looking and also try some of the fan sites for straight models. Talk him some Sense:D
