Decent prices for a B&M store. Poor-quality photo of some of the range below..

    photoef.jpg

Could be wrong on some of these but..

Titles at €8.99 include Happy Feet, The Lost Boys, Blood Diamond.

Titles at €11.99 include The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Body of Lies, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Friday The 13th (2009), Leon.

Titles at €13.99 include Cloverfield, The Italian Job, Event Horizon, Watchmen, No Country For Old Men, Kung Fu Panda, Eagle Eye.

Other ones that I can't remember pricing on include Unforgiven, The Untouchables, Star Trek Movies Boxset, Shooter.

Great to see this happening as if I had the choice I would rather buy from the shops in the street rather than online, but the difference in prices has been crazy since blu ray came out.

Was this just in the one store, was in the Swords Pavilons HMV last night and didn't see any blu-rays on sale. The watchman price looks pretty tempting so would consider traveling.

    They're in Blanchardstown as well.

I can wholly recommend Leon, fantastic transfer.

As I do not have a HMV close to me I checked the website and good value to be had there also.

HMV charge a ridiculous £2.50 shipping per item to Ireland though.

there are some ok prices but nothing worth shouting about imo. i bought benjamin button, but most of the prices are around €2 - €3 cheaper (at least) on amazon aswell as a much wider selection at that price so if your buying 3 or more, your gonna get free delivery aswell.

    No question..

But as I said... they're decent prices for a B&M (Bricks & Mortar) store. A B&M store will rarely beat the online retailers, but I'll gladly pay the extra €2 - €3 to bring them home and watch them tonight rather than wait a few days for delivery.

Not to mention the fact that not everyone has a credit card to buy from Amazon.

EDIT: I think you're underestimating these deals actually grimm..

    Best prices for the three €8.99 titles I quoted were £8.98 (sterling ex. VAT / P&P) each at Amazon (http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/blu-ray/Happy-Feet-Blu-ray/1077132.htm / http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/blu-ray/The-Lost-Boys-Blu-ray/1086247.htm / http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/blu-ray/Blood-Diamond-Blu-ray/1071452.htm).

The €11.99 titles I quote all range from £8.98 - £9.98 (sterling ex. VAT / P&P) each at Amazon, so you won't be saving much by buying from Amazon.

Just to confirm this is NOT in cork!!!
Was in there today, all they had was Cloverfield and one other blu ray, think it was The Italian Job. Pretty pissed off cos i had a 20e voucher and wanted to pick up some good blu rays and seeing the above pick i would have bought Watchmen and Leon. Have to say the HMV in Cork is terrible for Blu Ray...

Ended up buying life for 45e, rip off i have to say but i did have a voucher whihc made it 25 :o

    That's a shame Hogzy.

These type of sales in HMV are odd.. I remember when some people got 'Inglourious Basterds' in the 2 for €30 offer. But wasn't available in that offer in the Sligo store.

Yeah, i think it's more to do with the selection. I was in both henry st and grafton st and they basically only had the ones you listed, nothing really blew me away tbh. apart from the 3 you mentioned there were no other €8.99 titles. i was a little tempted by watchmen until i saw they had a directors cut that was about €28

I see Star Trek in the photo. Do you remember how much it was? 'Twas ~€30 in LV store last time I was in. I'm not a Trekkie but I've heard good things about the new movie and I've a voucher burning a hole in my pocket too.

Can't remember I'm afraid.. I don't think the reduction was huge.

That's actually the star trek series boxset, not the movie, its not in the offer. The cheapest that i reckon you could get the film would be around €14 maybe. The way to do it would be get a cheap €8.99 bluray in hmv, trade it into gamestop along with a fiver and choose one of the blurays on there €5 for a trade in offer. I did this with a free bluray i was given and got star trek for a fiver
