    Hi All,

Im not great with motors, so please bear with me.

I have two questions. The first one is pretty simple I hope. Im trying to find the chassie number on my car, So far I have found 3 different numbers and am not sure which one is the one I need, How many numbers are in a chassie number and should it end in a letter. Or where abouts around the engine would I find it.

Second, My car is a renault clio and recently the imobiliser has started to kick in, It seems to happen at random times, I have been told to lock and unlock with the central locking but this seems to work only sometimes. Would anyone be able to help me with this, Why now has this become a problem?

    Thanks very much

Your chassis no should be on your VLC document right at the top. As regards the place on the engine it varies from car to car. Some are on the bulkhead while others are on the inner panel where the struts are an others are beside the drivers seat. Dont know about the immobiliser though.

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) you're looking for begins with VF. Try looking at the bottom corner of the windscreen on the passenger side when looking from outside. It could also be on a label/plate on the driver's door pillar just below the latch. It will also be on your VLC documents.

Regarding your immobiliser, I'd advise you get your car into a Renault garage to get it sorted. They're the experts as far as your Clio is concerned and may well be able to fix the problem easily having seen it before. Any other solutions you get submitted here may well be nothing but guess work.

    Glazers Out!

for the car immbiloser thing, i would try unhooking the battery and reconnecting it. that might work
