Task Manager Problem

In the last few days I've noticed that when I open Task Manager it no longer has the little tabs along the top that lets you see the processes running in the background etc. It's now just one small window with no tabs where I can see what programs are open and I can "end task" and close them etc like this :

I'm just wondering where the rest of it went? I didn't change any settings or install anything new.

Is there anything I can do to get it back working as normal ?

Ive been having this problem too the last week or so XD

Im on win7 64bit. I thought it was just a graphical glitch at first until i tried to click where the tabs should be.
    Definatly a MS conspiracy.

Believe it or not, I once reformatted my entire PC over this "problem". It wasn't a big operation considering the way I keep my filesystem but it was akin to hitting a nail with a sledgehammer even though I searched for ages for a solution.

What you're looking at there is Task Manager's "Tiny Footprint Mode". I see no need for it's use to be honest and it's persistance through Vista and 7 is somewhat confusing.

To exit or enter Tiny Mode, double click on a grey area in task manager (say the grey bit under the list of processes beside the end task button).

Also, this is a windows problem and probably should have been posted under Tech->Operating systems->Windows :)

Thank you both for the replies.

TouchingVirus you are an absolute star! Thanks a million , one double click and all is well again. I'd never have imagined it'd be so easy. :)

You're very welcome, glad to have helped. As for the simplicity of the fix, you can imagine I was kicking myself after blanking my hard drive and starting afresh all because of a double-click :p
