We were up on 3Rock and Curagh towards SG. Got 3/4 way up 3Rock before the road had edge to edge ice. Got past the viewing point on the Curagh climb / top of stocking lane and up towards the first road that breaks off to the right. From there on still had almost 1ft of snow.

Some of the roads are rivers too with all the melt water and the amount of grit/gravel is unreal.

Judging by the forecast for the mountains, it'll be a while before it thaws out fully.

I went from Rathfarnam towards Sally gap this morning up as far as the viewing area but the road is closed from there. Lots of water run off on the road but fine to that point.

I drove up with the kids via Enniskerry-Glencree. Even getting that far the roads are very wet, and covered in gravel at many points. Past Glencree you can only get up half a mile to where the cars park for the Lake, then it's solid snow again. Might get further on an MTB.

Yea think it would better to give it a miss,i was keen to get a bit of climbing in tomorrow.a flat route would be the safer option. Thanks for the help,

Took the MTB up Stocking lane towards SG today, treacherous patches of ice on the way up to the featherbeds, as you go over the top at featherbeds there is still about 8 to 10 inches of snow all the way down the bridge just above Glencree.
Some patches of ice on the way up to Lough Bray tea rooms and then the Snow starts again, up to 10 inches, heavy going pushing a bike in that, got as far as the car park overlooking Lough Bray before turning back, will probably be another week before SG is accessible from this side.
Roads around Glencree, Enniskerry, Johnny Foxes that are clear are dangerous in some places due to road surfaces being strewn with debris and erosion.

    :)
