Heat Recovery, Supplier fit or builder fit

A builder has offered to fit a HRV to our house instead of the supplier.

The advantages of this seem to be
    -Cheaper
-Possibly easier to get problems rectified by the builder

The disadvantage I could potentially see is lack of specialist knowledge that could cause classic the classic HRV problems like poor performance, noise and condensation.

Whats everybodys take on this ? I`m leaning a bit towards the builder as I have heard that many HRV fitters can be hit and run, they install it and are no where to be found if you need support. I feel the builder would be alot easier to hold to account.

    Hi
Has youre builder any experiance in fitting HRV systems.
There are a lot of good HRV installers out there who are not hit and run, ask the installer's if they can show you some of there previous work in other houses.

If your comfortable with your builder doing the install and feel he's compentent enough do do it I would say let him do it.

I would however try and protect yourself by doing a deal with both your builder and your supplier to ensure that they will work together during the installation.

Both should be willing to do this as it will be extra work for your builder and the supplier will want to make the sale.

Also in the deal with the supplier get then to do a final check and comissioning.
