is it a fact of life?

I don't mean that on the rich guy pooping on the poor guy just that we have this "way" in Ireland.

Sure a poor guy can still turn one over on someone else :(

Is it a fact of life in Ireland that we will all do each other over :(:(

If I'm understanding right, the equivalent of... does the crap always roll downwards?
Sadly in this unfair word, yes. We still are a crappy lot at times of stupidity.

Just on the 'Know it.." like though.

There was a "Say it.." one, so I WIN that bit ;)

When I was young I'm sure I sang "It ain't what you know, it's the way that you know it..".

Maybe people felt sorry for me and never said.

I blame the Pot Noodles and Quick Lunches the use to give us poor kids. Experimented on us they did.

Not quite sure but I think That line may have being in the original ,or another version of the song before the fun boy 3 / banamrama version ,so you may be right there

This nepotism is definitely there , I seen this with my father when I was offered a apprenticeship in a big solicitor's office last October when the economy was at it's worst, but because my father had big connection he made the impossible possible with a phone call.

Grandad use to tell my father "It's not what you know, it's who you know" he was also a very successful man

Yep it happens here, but we're not nearly as bad as some cultures. France a good example. Nepotism is a way of life there. its just accepted.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Ireland is all about who you know. In business, politics, and day to day life. That's where the expression 'First world country, third world politics' comes from.

Oh it is bad enough here. Its a small population for a start so people move in quite small circles. So if you're a solicitor or a doctor say, you'll know most or many others in the town whichever town that is. The parish pump politics thing. In places like France though with huge populations compared to here, that still goes on on a bigger scale. The political thing here is mad though. Sons of sons etc. Then again George dubya bush's daddy went before him. And teh Kennedy's? Then again they were Irish. :)
