Youtube/Google contacted me today (an it wasn't spam) They want to place adds on my youtube videos and share the revenue with me. I didn't post the videos for money, but after 50,000 hits I think they contact you or something.

I'd love to share the video with you all, but on the terms and conditions it says I can't direct traffic to my videos by posting links on other websites.

Anybody else here been contacted about Revenue sharing?

    Dear ************,

Your video **********! has become popular on YouTube and you're eligible to apply for the YouTube Partnership Programme, which allows you to make money from playbacks of your video.

Once you're approved, making money from your video is easy. Here's how it works: First, sign in to your YouTube account. Then, complete the steps outlined here: ********* Once you've finished, we'll start placing ads next to your video and pay you a share of the revenue, as long as you meet the programme requirements.

We look forward to adding your video to the YouTube Partnership Programme. Thanks and good luck!

I got the same e-mail last week. I'm afraid to apply for it because I didn't make the video myself, and afaik don't have any written permission to say I could upload it.

It says in the T&C that any video you put forward for revenue sharing must be your own work and you need permission to use anything that might belong to someone else.. and they'll ban you if you apply for it without those criteria

I find it hard to trust anything that suggests "easy money"
Do they ask for you're bank account details?-it sounds abit fishy to me.
If it's real then congrats, you're videos must be very good.
Just be careful and check out everything that would be involved.("programme requirements"?.):)

Totally agree with your post. But no they did not ask for any financial details. And the email was for sure from Google.

Considering there are Youtubers who make a living off their videos, it must be fairly decent.

I wonder how much these Youtubers make from ad revenue?

I wouldn't even ask my sister how much she earns. It's too personal.

    Dear kearnsyd,

Thanks for submitting your video(s) listed below for revenue sharing. Because you have not provided adequate documentation that you have the necessary rights to use all the video material and music commercially, we have disabled revenue sharing.

Please note that we reserve the right to make the final determination on whether to enable revenue sharing for a video.

I got that a few months ago for one of my videos. I was going through the process, but then a page came up saying that, basically, if your video is in bad taste Youtube will delete it. The video in question isn't exactly PC or in good taste, so I just didn't go ahead with it, for fear that it'd be deleted.

For example nigahiga 1,797,943 if 10% of people clicked on an ad then that user would stand to make $143,835. Revenues seem to be $0.08 to clicked ad.

You get paid after 1250 clicks (they send you $100)

 Must buy a camcorder and start uploading. I could set up a video entilded JONJO'S guide to miserly living.

Will it be filmed in Australia?

GoogleAds are pay-per-click though....so don't you make 0 unless people click the ads? And doesn't that mean it's fine to provide a link once you don't say - "click those ads there"

    🤪

Lol. Trying to look at a youtube video, had to sign in as over 18s and the following has come up on a blank page:
    while(1);{"errors": "I call shenanigans", "success": false}

I've applied over a month ago and not heard anything from them since. I wish they'd tell me if I'm in or not. Suppossed to only take a week :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

Got the same email in work during the week, I just checked the adsense balance and it's earned a whole cent already. EDIT: I was only looking at one day it's actually made $1.13 over a week.

It's not even the most viewed video on the account but it is getting a higher daily rate of views.

I got the same email but i didn't bother trying it when they said they would delete the video if it did not qualify for the revenue.
