Got a job Do i have to sign off straight away

    Hi Everyone

    I hope you can help me. I got a job started on Monday can I collect my benefit until the end of the month when I get paid or do I have to sign off straight away. I'm just asking because it would be hard to live for a month without it.

    Any info would be greatly appreciated

    You have to sign off straight away unfortunately. You can just ring them and tell them your start date. If you're getting rent allowance, ring them too and let them know, but mention that you're not getting paid till the end of the month and ask if they can help out.

    Even if you are not receiving rent allowance, you can still contact the Community Welfare Officer at the HSE office and apply for funds to tide you over till you get paid. You will have to repay but not all at once. Congrats on the job!
