Mercedes Watches : Champs Elysees, Paris

    Cautionary story.


    I purchased a lovely Mercedes watch 2.5 years ago, in the Mercedes Shop, on the Champs Elysees in Paris.

    Recently the watch started to lose time but with a three year guarantee I was confident that Mercedes would repair/replace the watch.

    I travelled to Paris on holiday and went to the shop.
    I left the watch with the assistant and I received a phonecall two weeks later informing me that the watch could not be repaired.
    No explanation was given.

    I was also told that the particular brand of watch was no longer available but Mercedes would allow me to get a replacement from their latest stock commensurate to the value of the original purchase.

    I selected a replacement watch which Mercedes posted to me.
    After one week, this watch started to lose time.
    I brought the watch to a jeweller and he said that the battery in the watch was fine.
    I contacted Mercedes in paris and they said that they would take this watch back for examination/repair.
    I posted this watch back to Paris but received another phone call from Mercedes saying that this watch was irreparable!
    Mercedes have offered me another watch as a replacement.

    I have written to Mercedes and I have asked for a refund of the original amount paid.
