STI test in the Student Health Centre (UCC SU Health Week)

SU are advertising UCC Health Week on their Facebook site now. I coincidently had an STI test this morning and thought Id start a thread about it (dont worry, no pics :pac:). I had been hesitant about getting it to be honest. I heard all this talk of getting wide swabs shoved up my "japs eye" and was a bit scared (Im male btw!). Well it turns out that that story is not true of the UCC Health center test!

Instead you get the infinitely more comfortable blood and urine tests! When you go to the center a nurse takes you to an examination room. She asks you a few questions relating to your sexual history, then gives you a vial to go take a piss into. When you come back she takes some blood from your arm. Anyone who has donated blood will be familiar with it. You then see the doctor. She will go over your history and talk about vaccines. If youve been bad she'l give you a vocal wrist slapping! Then you have to pull down your pants for a symptoms check of you genital area. Youl get some literature and an appointment to come back in two weeks.

So its not scary at all! Thats why I wanted to post this. The principal reason I delayed so long was because I was kind of nervous. But I needn't have been. Its €20, and the advice is to go every 6 months if your sexually active.

Is the doc a hotty? G'f is away and ..... well lets just say the General hasn't been on manoeuvers recently and is liable to jump to attn if ambushed by friendly forces :D

Incidently, the swabbing experience is best avoided......we're still having flashbacks,
    the General and I :0
