Gun firing to the side

    Hi guys,

I've just been test firing my first AEG and while I can operate the hop-up fine and get consistent grouping the gun fires to the right of where I am aiming, maybe an inch at 30 feet. Two questions, how common is this and is it fixable? I can compensate by aiming to the left but would like to fix this if at all possible.

    Thanks

Were you testing it outside? It would be the wind if you were.
    Otherwise clean the barrel, lots.

Sounds like your sights need to be tweaked. What's the gun, and what kind of sights are you using - built-in iron sights, or some kind of optical thinger? If the former, is there any way to adjust them, according to the instructions? If not, you'll have to improvise by bashing them in the appropriate direction with a rock or well-chewed femur, or just deal. An inch to the right of centre mass is... more centre mass. :)

No testing was inside - I'll give the barrel a good clean but would it really cause that much (consistent) deviation???

It's a cybergun AK47 tactical and the sights have no provision for lateral adjustment I'm afraid. lol, think I'll leave the bashing and you're right, in play it doesn't make much difference - just annoying is all.

    Thanks lads

Aim at something farther away and watch to see if the BB's swerve farther to the right or if they just follow a straight path right.

In the case of the former, the hop is most likely mis-aligned and not imparting a spin which is purely vertical. You'll have to check that both it, and the barrel are installed correctly.

If your model has cyberguns odd type hop then there may be some means of adjusting it without stripping the AEG - I hear there's a lateral adjustment to their hop unit (haven't any experience of it myself though.)

In the latter case, then it's a windage issue - if there's no adjustment available on the sites, you'll just have to get used to it. ;)

I haven't fiddled with the Cybergun AK much (a mate of mine has one though, it's freaking nice), but the real one has a way of adjusting the foresight with a special key that screws the post left and right. Worth having a look to see if that's replicated at all, if I remember correctly it might be something you could get a hang of with a needle-nosed pliers or something. The same key also fits over the front post to screw it up and down.

I'm pretty sure the bb leaves the barrel at an angle but keeps to that path. There is provision to change the height of the frontal sight but nothing else. Bringing it back to the store next week and techie will take a look at it.

    Will keep you posted.
