id say this is in the wrong forum but not sure where it goes - please move if its wrong.
Im wondering if anyone that is unemployed has ever done a wwp with fas and what was it like? Do you still get social welfare if you are on a wwp? Looking at the website is seems there are certain criteria as to whether you still get social welfare or not? Any information provided will be appreciated - thanks.

i have been looking at doing the work placement programme with fas..
you have to be 3 months unemployed if your getting JB or JA... although someone who isnt receiving any social welfare can apply but then they wont be gettin any money for the job..

im on jobseekers benefit and if i get a place on the work placement programme then i can keep my 196 euro a week as long as i hav enough time left on jobseekers benefit

if you ring the fas free phone no of 1800611116 they should give you more details..

It's seems a bit unfair that if you have been getting a payment for 3 months you can keep it but if you have only been getting it for 2 months you can't?? i will be starting a WPP in a week or so but have only been on JB for 2 months so will consequently have to give up my payment! The fas officer nevr mentioned that though - he just confirmed i was eligible to apply and gave me the details. I really can't afford to turn down the WPP as it is fantastic experience, so maybe I will call into the SW office and ask if they could make an exception as I am only a few weeks short. Worth a try I guess - or is there absolutely no point??

It's always worth asking! I work in a pharmacy and we've had two people on the Fas work placement over the past three months. The first girl got a permanent job straight away after finishing with us and the second is finishing up next week. It just means that you can apply for jobs and say you've had relevant experience. They both did 12 wks (without pay) but have learned enough to apply for plenty of jobs

I know someone who went for an interview for this (not saying where) but was told the person who got it was someone with experience. Now I'm not saying they should have got the job over the person I know but I thought the whole idea was to give a graduate the chance to get that experience...... I imagine though the job prospect at the end could be pretty good.
