    Hi folks,
Has anyone tried to buy a prepaid wireless dongle thingy in France? Heading there tomorrow and would like net access from where i'm staying. It has no normal access currently.

    Any info welcome!

Yep, I have. Best advice I could give you is wait until you're there, then check on your mobile which network coverage is best where you're staying- orange, sfr etc. Then buy the modem from that provider.

I DIDN'T check beforehand, bought one from SFR, wouldn't work at all- completely useless and they would not refund.

Orange was perfect. Pre-pay is very expensive in France compared to here though!

Wifi coverage is pretty good too- you could also check out your nearest cafe/hotel with wifi and see how much they charge, then just pop for a coffee when ever you need access.

Ah cool, yea i'll do that. Any idea of the cost?
Will need it where i'm staying so heading to a cafe/hotel would be a last resort :-)

How long do you intend on staying over here ?

€50 gets you the dongle thingy and 6 hours of Internet.

You can see the prices of the top up charges from Orange and also SFR here :

I can't seem to link to the Orange prices directly but it's €35 for a 12-hour card, so that makes it €85 for 18 hours (6+12)
