How do I fit an outside extactor vent to my soffit?

    Hi,

I have just found that my kitchen extractor hose vents into the attic space at the back of my house. It's a dormer bungalow, so it is behind the upstairs bathroom wall. I want to fix this and vent it to outside. The most obvious route is to vent it out through the soffit. However, the soffit is aluminium. I want to fit an outside vent to this and connect up the flexi-hose from the kitchen fan to the vent. What's the easiest way of fitting this vent and is it ok to have the vent pointing down towards the ground? Any help appreciated.
