contract renewal

    Hi,

I'm an IT worker on contract through an agency. Luckily get on well with my boss and know that my position is pretty safe (as in they've asked me to let them know if I ever want to go full time)

My contract has recently expired - week and a half ago. The agency is normally very anxious to get me re-sign a new contract when the contract expires every 9 months. This time I decided to ask them to reduce their commission. Since then I haven't heard anything. Agent won't answer my calls etc.

Question: Is there any disadvantage for the agency to not have a written contract? As I understand it previous contract conditions continue on if a new one hasn't being agreed, so why would they ever be bothered to get people to re-sign contracts?
Why would they not let the initial contract roll, as they seem to be doing currently to me?
