Sky News - What about us?

I was watching Sky News today when Brian Cowen was completely snubbed during a live broadcast of his and Brown's press conference.
I've written about it here: http://themidnightherald.blogspot.com/2010/01/new-and-abuse.html

Have they no obligation to Irish viewers?
Was the failed Sky News Ireland from a few years back the last we'll see of Irish news on Sky?

They are pandering to their largest audience. I don't watch Sky News to get updates on issues relating to Ireland.

I know but there are no alternatives in terms of round the clock news that are relevant to Ireland.

Slick plugging for the blog there.

As far as I'm concerned, was Cowen really going to add much more to the fray than what Brown had already said? Apart from stating how much the Republic would contribute towards the humanitarian efforts. Waste of broadcasting time in terms of attraction from sky's point of view.

They did give us our own little Sky News with Grainne Seoige but no-one wanted to watch it ...(although Enda Brady got a job out of it)

OP - I've deleted the other thread where you tried to pimp your blog and am looking at this one in much the same light, but will leave the link for now.

In future if you want to put forward an argument of yours then do it here - don't link to it elsewhere.

As for Sky News - they have absolutely no obligation to anyone bar their shareholders.

    Hi Flogen,

You say you deleted my thread because I was trying to "pimp" my blog.
I clearly stated that I was looking for opinions on it.
I didn't try and promote it in any underhand manner.
I appreciate that this may not be acceptable on here, but I'm new and wasn't aware of that.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

Who cares, Sky News is the Sun of television news, it's only use is for breaking news but apart from that it's awful.

But that's the whole point, there is no source for Irish breaking news on TV, and Sky should at least provide limited coverage of our top stories if they are concerned about "Britain AND IRELAND" as they claim to be.

RTE provide a 24 news stream via their website at rte.ie/player

Breaking nws..even if it isn't accurate

"Tiger Woods seriously injured in car crash"

    "Tiger woods received minor injuries"

In the space of 1hr that I happened to be in a pub that night with sky news on the story changed from him being half dead to having a few scratches

    The sun newspaper is right
