    Hi All,
The Cork Branch of Irish Maths Teachers Association is voluntarily run by teachers for the support and development of both teachers and students. We cover both Maths and Applied Maths and are very active.
In case you don't know about us, we provide many activities throughout the year including Teacher courses, student revision seminars and student competitions for 1st, 3rd and leaving certs.
We have some courses coming up for Teachers:
Applied Maths Teachers Course covering Statics, Hydrostatics and Relative Velocity. 18th Jan for 4 Mon nights, 7-9pm in Cork Education Centre.
Discrete Maths - Beginners starting 22nd Feb for 2 Mon nights, same details as above
Discrete Maths - Advanced on 8th and 15th March, 7-9pm in same location.
The beginners course is for people teachers JC or OL LC or new to HL LC and gives people a good grounding for when project maths material comes in.
The Advanced course is for people who teach HL LC and introduces 1 tail tests, bernoulli trials and hypothesis testing, all of which will be compulsory under Project Maths.

If you are interested in joining and getting involved, please visit our website, www.corkmaths.ie
We are not profit making and run student revision seminars which helps to fund our teacher activities. Please inform your students of our courses, which are as following:
Leaving Cert HL and OL, Sat 30th Jan in UCC
Junior Cert HL on 20th March in UCC
Applied Maths on 24th april, 8th May in Pres, Mardyke.
More details in the website and only 30 euro for the day.

Thanks to mods for letting us get involved and allowing us to promote ourselves to you.

    Rgds,
    Edward

Thanks to mods for letting us get involved and allowing us to promote ourselves to you.

Delighted to have you on Board (no pun intended), Edward.

Just a reminder that we also have a Junior and Leaving Cert forum. Rather than post the same message across each forum, I might suggest the mods to post a link to this thread.

Excellent. I went to the Applied Maths course last year, and it was fantastic.
I'm definitely interested in what's on offer this year.

Hi clartharlear, glad to hear you enjoyed last year's course and thank you for the positive feedback.
The Applied Maths Course starts next Mon and covers the more illusive topics so if your interested, drop me a line at info@corkmaths.ie.

I have Gaeilge Labhartha on Mondays for the next while, but hopefully I'll get to the discrete maths ones!

Just to update you that the Advanced Discrete Maths course filled in days and we are now holding a rerun of the same course on Tues April 13th and 20th, 7-9pm in COrk Educational Centre.
And who says teachers only work a few hours, we are having a massive application to do courses in their own time and own expense
