    Hi,
I drove from Cork City to Kenmare yesterday. The Newstalk reception was very poor all the way. I assumed it was my car areial's fault at first.
Hopefully its only a temporary issue.

Strange, We have lost RTE 1 and 2 as well as Today Fm on and off all week here in Waterford but not newstalk?

I can only assume that Today FM shares the same transmitters as RTÉ and Newstalk doesn't

Newstalk from Mullaghanish (107.4) has today resumed transmission.

Newstalk from Mullaghanish had been off for the past week, mainly affecting listeners in Co. Cork, Co. Kerry and west Co. Limerick .

No Newstalk reception here in SE Co. Sligo yesterday or today. The weather is terrible at the moment, though...

I e-mailed them and received two replies. This helpful one:
    Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately the freak snow fall is affecting our satellite transmission to our site and the site itself is inaccessible so we cannot fix it yet.

Hopefully we will be able to access the site in the next 24 hours and restore transmission.

    Thank you for your patience

And the second one was deleted without being read on Tue, 30 Mar 2010 17:30:24 +0100.

    :)

At last I have an explanation to a Newstalk phenomenon. As I drive from Clonmel to Fermoy every morning,Newstalk can jump back and forth in time by about 2 seconds.A converstion will suddenly finish,or I will hear the same phrase repeated.
If they feed transmitters by satellite, and maybe also by direct microwave link, that might be the reason.
