Next month my company is going to make me redundant but there is a bit of confusion at the moment.

Does anyone knows how long you need to wait before you can be employed by another company?

Let's say you will be made redundant on the 01feb when can you start a new job in terms of taxation etc?

I wont be able to get the statuary redudancy but my company is still giving me something but not sure how it works..

    help...

    thanks

Your company does not have a choice. If it is making you redundant it MUST give you statutory redundancy at a minimum. You can sue for the difference and they can be prosecuted and fined if they do not.

    Do not accept anything less.

You can start a new job immediately. There is no need to wait inbetween.

I wont be able to get the statuary redundancy because I am not 2years with the company yet so they are giving me their redundancy package anyway on their terms ..but they are saying that I cannot be employed for the next 15days after the consultation period...that's rubbish..

Can you confirm I can start any job even within the redundancy process period ?

What's the story about taxation? Do you know the free tax amount?

    Thanks

If they are giving you redundancy that they are not obliged to give you, why have you the issue with waiting 15 days before starting another job?

There is no free tax amount also as you are not entitled to statutory redundancy. The payment will be taxed as though it is additional wages that you are receiving.

Sorry I should have make myself clear at the beggining ....this is a bit complicated...my company will be take over from an english company ok...and as they have no jobs in ireland they will make us redundant ...

The still have to employ us for one day and then finish up on the same day so they are still going to pay for the full month like a month notice period but I will be employed by them for one day ...

They are now saying to me that I have to wait 15 days before I can be employed by another company during the consultation period and I cannot find this information anywhere...and it's seems to be wrong anyway.

    Is it more clear now?
