Anybody on here think promoting a meet and greet event with no wrestling matches would be a good idea if alot of must see wrestlers were booked for the event. Would you attend such an event ?

All comments, good , bad or indifferent welcome.

    Thanks

There would need to be some really big names on it, and in Ireland I doubt the promoter would be able to cover the costs.

I think signings go down well. They're autograph conventions. I'm down with paying into the place but paying for autographs (well, I suppose 5 bucks is the max I'd lay down) i'm not a fan of. I think they're a lot more common in America...sign-a-mania and all that.

I think part of what makes the American Wrestling Rampage so popular is that you can get their sigs before the show (sometimes afterwards)...

It'd really depend on who's there. Maybe a Q&A panel with signings before or afterwards would be better.

It'd have to have some serious past / present superstars. Not an entire line up, but enough to make it worth the trip. Like if there are any retired wrestlers who we have NO chance of seeing.

Example... i went to the awr show with bret in letterkenny which is a long enough drive. if it was in my hometown id have went whether bret was there or not, but if he wasnt there i wouldnt have travelled.

Id imagine it would b hard to pay the wrestlers enough while giving the fans good value at a signings only event with multiple signings / photos etc.

Could you tie it in with a small wrestling show or fair?

IWW ran one of these down in Cork a few years back, had a load of big names in but none of them wrestled. Went down like a lead balloon if I recall.:pac:

There is a lot more to that story. The ring never showd, and the likes of Balls Mahoney told old road stories, Nigel McGuinness, the then ROH Champ, was doing card tricks, Raven was trying to appease angry parents, Davairi just chatted weith people and was very amused by the whole thing.

There is thread from June 2008 with all the details as they happen.

I was there. It was actually kind of fun in a car crash kind of way. needless to say, IWW have not touched Cork City since.

I think they actually id come back to cork but there was NO mention of it on here, for obvious enough reasons. Not 100% certain, but fairly sure...

They were in Youghal (though I consider that Waterford) and Ballydehob definitely. Not sure about the city. Fairly certain not though.

OP. This for example is a good set up but wayyy overpriced. 30 pound some of them are charging for an auto and photo. I would want a match with them and a copy of the dvd!!!

Any idea what the memorabilia section would be like? worth the admission fee to have a look around?

Thanks for posting! That looks pretty awful IMO. Maybe that's just a personal preference for these particular past stars. Would most people be interested in that?

Is this being run in conjunction with the other one being talked about on this board in Kildare?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18 PWROffice

Hi Gimmick, this fan convention is being promoted by and has nothing at all to do with the fan convention in Kildare during Novemebr 2010 which i believe is called WrestleZone Ireland.

The line up for this convention is not finalised and we would like to hear which wrestlers people would like to see attend the event.

As i stated in my prvious post there will be merchandise stands available on the day, however i forgot to mention that no stand will be allowed to sell food/drink etc as the hotel will want to profit from these sales. Vendors are allowed to sell general mainstream wrestling merchandise such as WWE & TNA dvds, t-shirts, posters etc aswel as ROH, WCW, WWF, AWA, ECW merchandise. All merchandise will have to be official and no copies will be allowed on sale. Furthermore, we will not allow the sale of any Irish Promotion Merchandise such as but not limited to IWW, FFPW, NWA Ireland, WW, NLW, UCW, BCW or any English/Scotish,Welsh,British promotion merchandise at this event.

Hi JoePenguin id be interested to know what exactly you mean by a fair ? At this event there is no chance of a small wrestling show but we have plans for the future. Thanks for your input

No news on the memorabilla on sale yet, however our prices would not be anyway near 30 pounds for an autograph.

We would like to hear whether or not people would like an all inclusive pac kage on sale or general admmission plus pay for what you personally want whilst inside.

Another thing we are thinking of adding to the event is a fans and stars after party.

It would be good to hear what people think of this idea

Thanks for the input, is the Iron Sheik a personal favourite of yours or do you think he would be popular with a lot of fans. Hoping to hear from you.

Both. I love him, and I think his presence will attract many people. Anything could happen when Sheiky Baby rolls into town!

Maybe try Scott Steiner too. A name that could attract young and old and is currently not working for any company. Might head along to this one being not far from Letterkenny.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with Wrestlezone Ireland in Maynooth on 6th and 7th of November. The site will be up this week regarding Wrestlezone Ireland. I have other names now confirmed too.

Just had a look there at wrestleslam uk the prices to say the laest are day light robbery.

Would it be better to offer general admission and fans pay for what autographs and photos they want bearing in mind if thats the case general admission will be reasonable and so will photos/autograpghs and any other merchandise that may be on sale from

Or would fans prefer all inclusive photo/autograph with every wrestler attending, plus event poster for all one inclusive price

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

I'd much prefer one all-inclusive price than having to pay every time.

A name that would defo attract a lot of fans would be Sinn Bohdi (aka to WWE fans Kizarny) as he's freaky, strange and great w/ the fans.Plus he would put on one hell of a show whether its wrestling his strange style or if the show has been delayed for some particular reason he's also a sideshow freak.I personally would love to see a meet & greet involving him.

Basically having a few things on the go, make an event out of it. perhaps workshops with the wrestlers. This way if they wanted they could charge €20 ish whilst giving fans something for their money. even a fiver per autograph is a bit much when there is loads you want. You end up not going to some guys because you just cant afford it.

    An event could have:

    Meet and greet
    Memorabilia
    after party / interaction
    wrestling workshops

    Hi,

The meet & greet event has been cancelled, due to a a number of reasons mainly two.

1: I was using a protected word for the event which i have ceased to do.

2: Being honest from a fans point of view and mine i could not match the line up of WrestleZone Ireland - at least im being honest. I dont like promising every star and deliver less on the day and disappoint fans.

However, there is a wrestling show still planned for June 12th 2010 at the Clanree Hotel. I will start a thread towards the end of next week with show information. The event will be promoted under a different name than before due to legal reasons.

At the show will be top scottish talent with some homegrown talent.

General admission will only cost 10 euro
