Hi there i am due to get married in spain this yr and i found a wedding planner through the internet. wwwmymallorcaweddings.com . I am due to sign a contract with this guy and he wants a deposit of £500 and to have all the bills payed 3 months in advance.

is this a common thing for couples getting married abroad ? I am also cautious because his company doesnt deal with paypal and wants me to transfer money into another account for wedding planners.

here is part of the email he sent
Unfortunately paypal became very confusing after my wife died with the result that we could not get monies out from them when the nominated bank account changed. That is why we are working exclusively now from the Wedding Planners International account.

so i have 2 questions. 1. has anyone ever dealt with this company and 2 has anyone ever had to pay wedding planners in this way? i must point out that i have spoken to him on the phone and he has even sent me links of weddings he has covered but im just cautious as its a lot of money so any help here would be great .

I don't know of that company sorry. All I do know is a friend of mine got married in Spain last year. The wedding planner required a deposit for her charge and nearer the time deposits had to be transferred for the venue etc, all was done on credit card so there was a record of payments. The final payments were made on the day like what is done for weddings here so I personally wouldn't feel too secure with a company operating as that company is.

It might be an idea to visit a weddings forum specifically for brides/grooms like realweddings.ie or weddingsonline.ie and see if anyone can recommend a tried and tested company.
