I am a partner in a new, niche, forum and just from observing a couple of threads here - a question has been niggling away at the back of my mind - so I'd thought I'd bring it here and get some feedback/thoughts from you all.

Recently there were a few lively debates on this forum - and I mean a few, I'm not picking a couple of recent ones but some others from last year - that literally had people replying a few times a day.

I know this happens frequently in more popular sections of boards - say cars or health - people can make posts every 15 mins to the point a thread can grow to 6 pages in a day or two.

My question is this - while the threads got quite excited (as excited as LCD text can get) - there was no real abuse and the language was quite well, parlimentary - probably even of a much higher standard.

What I'm confused to (although delighted this happened) - is why the mods were keen to award slaps/bans to a multitude of users? Isn't this kind of discussion debate good for the forum/industry?

I could be totally wrong of course....

This seems more like Feedback/Help Desk type thread tbh. If you want to PM your queries with specific examples, I can try assist.

If this thread is only about questioning/discussing moderation actions - it will have to be closed. Ill see how it looks like it will play out in the next day or so.
