Connecting PS3 to an Adhoc network in Windows 7

    Hi,

I am trying to get my PS3 to connect to my laptop using an adhoc network which I have set up in Windows 7. The reason I am using an adhoc network is because I dont currently own a wireless router and I want to share an internet connection which I have on my laptop (mobile broadband via a USB dongle). I know that the network is setup "correctly" because I am able to see it from other devices and connect to the internet. However when I try to scan for the network on my PS3 it never appears, I have also tried to enter in the id of the network manually but this doesn't work either. I have read somewhere that a PS3 will not find an adhoc network , but I have also read elsewhere that it will. Does anyone have a definitive answer before i waste more time on this.

    Many Thanks.

Surely you need a wireless router?

Thats what I am wondering!! I know that it is possible to set your laptop up as an "access point" or more correctly as an adhoc network access point, because I have done this and I am able to use it as a kind of virtual router through which my iPhone connects to the internet, but for some reason my PS3 wont play ball!

Did you get it working? I'm trying to run a similar set up myself now and having the same problem.
