Guess whose back with top promotions? Tommy Egan
heard it all before he put on a crap show at Basketball Arena last year
he said hes gonna take Irish Boxing to the next level so far he got Michael Sweeney in to a contract with Banner which on his first fight with them he got knocked out Also Michael left Egan cause he couldnt get a fight in over a year.
Tommy should stick to being a spectator not a Boxing Promoter I am not being hard on him i am just being honest its people like Tommy through no badness of his own just a lack of Knowledge of the game that will ruin the game here in Ireland and fighters careers as well.

That show last year wasn't crap, the card itself was very good(well the televised section anyway). There were other poor points to it though, attendance was very low for a variety of reasons(location, lack of publicity etc).

Sweeney was well ahead on the cards in that fight in Mexico, he had the other man down twice aswell before getting stopped in the last round. It's not like he was thrown in at the deep end against a fighter he took a beating against, it's only right that he had some sort of test on his hands.

From what I've heard it was more down to Sweeney refusing fights, than Egan not getting them that caused Sweeney's inactivity.

I don't like the way he's gonna about talking of Sinclair v Moore in April, before he's got both men to even commit to the fight. Not a smart thing to show your hand when you're trying to negotiate a deal either.
However outside of that Egan deserves his chance, and if things go badly, he'll be the one that's out of pocket in the end of it.

agree was at that show there was good boxing and some good names moore, kiko, hylands, spike, etc it was very badly marketed there was about 500 in attendance and most of them were hyland fans in a place that holds 3000. tommy likes to put the cart before the horse and shows his hand too soon but does deserve a chance afterall its his time and his money

There is nothing personal meant towards Tommy Egan my point is most promoters do a few shows get experience then try do TV ,Tommy can afford to pay for the production but it being his first show it was a TV nightmare no lighting rigs empty ringside seats and TV3 wont be in a hurry to cover boxing again now his second show is comong up and he is doing the same thing again only he is working with Setanta and if this show looks as bad for TV as the last one then we could lose Setanta too.
This is not good for Irish Boxing we need to keep other TV companies interested so we can compete with RTE and Brian Peters its healty to have a bit of competition and it keeps fighters busy believe me i wish Tommy all the best i want him to be a success and if it is i will be the first to congragulate him as far as Michael Sweeney is concerned i would prefer to put that subject to bed .

When i was thinking of fighting pro i was speaking to tommy and he was a gentleman and did not talk any rubbish, he was straight to the point and really wanted to improve things and add a real alternative to brian peters..

he'll have learned from the last 1..

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

TV3 should of been delighted with what they got, they didn't have to pay a penny for that promotion. All the cost was forked out at Egan's expense.
Setanta Ireland haven't got the money to be picky about things. If they can get boxing on the cheap and the quality/viewership is good that's all they'll care about.

I know where you are coming from, but Tommy's had his first show and I'm sure he's learned a lot from it. With the way it turned out there's no doubt he took a considerable hit to his wallet from it and yet he's back again for more. That shows his commitment and enthusiasm for the game and if he hasn't got it right you can be sure he'll work to get it right.

The funny thing is his proposed card in April has already got more advertisement and publicity than the TV3 one did. With a decent location and continued publicity he should do alright.
