Framed photos of New York, cool scenery - where to purchase?

I've recently moved into a new apt and am looking to get hold of a few framed photos to hang up. The apt is pretty bare and there is plenty of wall space. I was thinking of a few black & white New York cityscape photos and maybe some Ansel Adams type scenery and anything really. I'm pretty open to suggestions. I would like some really massive pictures (up to 6ft wide) as I've a few big walls to cover. There are a few photos I've seen of the winter snow we've just had so wouldn't mind getting a few of them blown up and framed. Any suggestions on where to source such things online or b&m shops are welcome.

    Keep it local!
There's a lot of seriously good photographers posting here on Boards and most have links to their sites/flickr/pixie in their sigs.

Take a bit of time and browse some of their streams - I guarantee you'll find something you like and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to sell you a print or two.

If any of these float your particular boat I'd be happy to oblige :)

Guys, I'm well awear of the photography forum and even purchased the boards.ie photography book last year for my sis. I will scour the photos on boards.ie but for more professional type framed photos, where would I look. I may just end up blowing up a few photos from boards users. We'll see. Keep the suggestions coming.

Thats really quite a disparaging remark. What leads you to believe that you won't get here what you are looking for and as professionally printed and framed as anywhere else, :(

I assume you are going to ask people if you can purchase or seek permission for use of those shots rather than just take them?

If you would like some B&W Irish Landscapes then have a look at www.blackandwhite.ie

Neil only works in Mono for his landscapes & they are very good quality prints. He mainly sells the outside of Ireland, so they come mounted but not framed. There will be an exhibition of his prints in Dublin Camera Club soon (hopefully starting this Saturday)

I have dealt with this gentleman before. He has some absolutely jaw-dropping night shots of New York.

Well that's a bit disparaging and you're also implying that you'd steal images from our flickr streams and just blow them up without permission. What I was implying was that I'd sell you a print and I'd have done you a so-called "professional type" framed print for a good price but consider the offer rescinded.

    Oh, and it's "aware".

I am not sure where the OP said he was going to steal anything from here?

Here is my New York set

Don't mind the old ones taken on a crappy Olympus camera back in 2004, there might be one or 2 of interest from my last visit, but New York is such a great place to photograph that you already will have been spoilt for choice with the options presented to you so far.

This guy has an exhibition and/or gallery in the Whitewater shopping centre in Newbridge. It was there before xmas anyway but I haven't been there since so I presume it still is.

Guys, thanks for the links. To the boardsie's who misread my original post, I have no intention of stealing anything. Check out some of my previous 2000 post or so to see that I'm not that kind of guy. I'll be checking out loads of photos taken by you guys over the next while. Having NTL broadband installed tomorrow so will have ALOT more bandwidth to view photo's then. I'll be in touch if I find any photos I like taken by boardsie's.

Oh, and to stunt_penguin, check out the unruly time I typed up original post at - I was typing "awear" and I knew it was wrong but couldn't think straight so went to bed. Don't know why I stay up so late. Addicted to boards.ie

Cheers. I've been in contact with Spike via PM. I'm interested in a photo or two of his but I want to also have a look at more boardsie's photos too.

    you mentioned ansel adams.

i spent a few hours in the adams gallery in yosemite recently. his work is obviously impressive. one of the most impressive shots i spotted there wasn't one of his though, it was this one :

    http://www.anseladams.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1407

it doesn't look great online for some reason - but in person - it is a stunning shot.
