Couple of Q's

Right basically I had been viewing cars and set on what I wanted to buy but recently I drifted across a 03 hyundai coupé for feck all!!! Rang the garage and he said reason being so cheap was because the big end bearing was gone in the engine due to whoever serviced the car not replacing oil filters etc.

The garage said they'll sell me the car and give me 3 months warranty on the old engine then when that warranty was up if I bring the car back they'll fit a new engine for 1000 with everything included and then give me an extra 3 months warranty with the new engine in it. Now this to me seems like an absolute bargain and seems pretty cool as it's a dealer and not a private seller so I have the warranty if there's actually more wrong with the car.

Should I go for it? What do you all think?

Second Q. If I were to buy private what stops should I take to safeguard myself? I remember a thread where a mod gave every detail of how he'd buy a car privately. Think it was Anan?

If anyone remembers the thread can they stick a link up because I cant find it

You would be indeed. Deeming it was discussed before i'm guessin ppl are afraid to take the risk of it?

Why doesn't the garage fit the new engine and just add the cost onto the selling price? Even at a grand more it would still be reasonably priced compared to other similar models on carzone. Something just doesn't add up imo.

If you don't want it Bonito P.M. me the details, i'd appreciate it. I'd certainly take a chance on it if it's as good as it sounds, also what are they asking for it? (you can p.m. me that too, thanks.)

It's the cheapest 03 Hyundai Coupe up on carzone at the moment. They are asking €3k.
