Apologies if this is not the appropriate forum to ask this question.

Am considering purchasing a secondhand Volvo XC70 and am trying to find out how good they are. The Garda one’s look super but I presume that they were chosen for more than their looks.
Does anyone here know how reliable they are? I’ve read somewhere that suspensions give some bother. I’ve no doubt that the Gardai would certainly have given them some test.

    Jomcc.

Moved to motors with re direct.

Garda XC70s are Police Special, in fact the first Police Special XC 70s ever made. (UK police forces tried to offer Volvo more money than AGS for them when they first came out but AGS got their first)

No problems from Garda ones. Top class machines.

No problems from the newer model maybe but the series 1? A major pile of troublesome crap ?? Check honestjohn.co.uk, check any website. Don't let pride block objectivity when carbuying advice is being considered.

I've driven a couple, and IMO they handle very poorly. The AWD system is also a long way behind the systems used by Audi and Subaru. On the upside, the seats are really good, and the interior is generally a nice place to be.
