They'll also be region 1, which is a pain in the arse for people like me who use their PS3 as their main DVD player...
You can get region 2 copies of season 1-4 quite cheap from thehut.com, zavvi or amazon.co.uk (£16 per season mostly...)

What about customs charges? If they are shipped from the US won't customs slap on duty and VAT?

If anyone is interested, the gamestop in stephens green have series 1 - 4 (seperately) second hand for €40 each on bluray. It's not that cheap but its cheap-ish for a bluray boxset and you can get 5% off with a student card (pathetic i know, but better than nought)

These seasons are available for €20 a pop in Heatons. Good for a brick and mortar store I thought.

You have been lucky. Someone I know bought the Greatest American Hero boxset (only available Region 1) for $40 from Amazon.com and was I believe charged approx €20 more when it was stopped by customs. I may be off on the values but it was in that general ballpark.

    Ix.

Waiting to buy season 1 in Blu Ray at a reasonable price. I think this series looks excellent in HD.

I picked up all 5 seasons on BluRay for 74 euro from amazon.com just before xmas.

I originally bought them for $204 dollars and then 2 weeks later they had a gold box deal and the price dropped by $100 dollars. I emailed amazon about their "Price Guarantee" program and they refunded me the $100.

Awesome deal. Never watched the show before but thought I would get the series before the papers and other media reveal the ending in May..its gonna be pretty hard to avoid finding out what happens in the finale.

HMV are charging 85 quid for one season on blu..which is an absolute rip off.

It looks stunning on blu ray. The best looking tv show I have seen so far on the format. Highly recommended.

They are also region free except for the third and fourth seasons. http://bluray.liesinc.net/

Whats a gold box deal? They are all 35 dollars each at the moment. Might splash on the 1st season if its region free. Cheers.

About 3 weeks ago Amazon.com had a special offer of Lost Season 1-5 on Blu Ray for $103.95 during a special 4 hour window.

When you visit Amazon at the top of the page you'll notice a small gold box with the word's "Today's deals" next to it, click on that and you'll see the special deals of the day. If you log onto your amazon account and visit the Gold Box you'll also see some additional deals chosen specially for you based on your past browsing/purchasing history.

It is only at certain hours, at the top of the hour, that they will have one of these deals available. You have to grab it quick because they usually go pretty fast. They have one starting in a minute. The other thing is that they dont tell you what item is going to be offered until the time it starts.

Just wait to the show is finished and buy the box set a year later for 75 quid. Just like happened with The Shield, The Wire and The Sopranos.

    Slightly mor niche shows.

Sopranos finished a while ago plus none of them are on BR

Pretty sure at least the first season of The Sopranos have been released on Blu-ray.

And Shawn Ryan said Sony won't release 'The Shield' on Blu-ray: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Shield-The-Complete-Series/12589

I'll have to google the Sopranos.

I bet the Wire has the same problems as the shield regarding how it was shot. Really doubt it was shot on camera high quality enough for BR.

I'd swear it was those cheap R4s from bangcd if I hadn't seen it on tv the other day.
