Try this - haven't tried it myself though! Also more here. Delivery aprox 2 weeks.

PS Leads such as this won't do the job.

Cheers. €25 ain't bad. What wires do I need do you know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭digitaldr

All the video cables seem to be included you'll just need one to handle audio.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,974 ✭✭✭✭Gavin "shels"

Is there a port for it on the converter? Which audio cable if so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭digitaldr

Audio would go direct from the headphone socket of your laptop to your TV. You'll need a 3.5mm stereo jack plug to phono lead. If your tv has phono sockets you'll be able to plug your composite video and audio in directly. If not you'll need to get a phono to scart adaptor like this one - any electrical shop should have one (none on dealextreme as far as I could see).

IF tv is not hd, set resolution on pc to 720x576 , refresh rate at 50 or 60mhz, thats the max at sd tv can take.A higher res or refresh rate will damage the tube.
    SEE www.svideo.com for more info.

    It's a HD TV.

You sure there isn't a VGA in on the back of the TV? I normally just use VGA to VGA or HDMI/DVI to HDMI depending on what the TV has.

If it has dvi in you can buy a vga to dvi convertor , maplins 5euro approx,my hdtv only takes 60mhz max refresh rate .
YOU,LL need to use a format eg 1024x768 or 720p,or 1080 eg match the hd native resolutions that the tv displays otherwise you,ll get awful blurring and distortion.
too high a res will burn out the hdtv tube.
use the standard hdtv 720/1080 res ,google hdtv resolution 1080/720.
THAT convertor is 1x2inch approx.THAT audio cable is 3euro in maplins/powercity 3.5mm to 2 rca stereo.RCA should be male.

It actually does have a VGA, never noticed it. So what way do you do it and what wires, etc... do I need? Cheers.;)

Just a regular VGA monitor lead for the video (female to female) and audio as above. If your not in a big rush ebay etc a lot cheaper.

Why would you do that, seriously? :P

If it's a HD ready telly try 1366x768, sometimes its 1360x760. Thats standard HD definition.

Major clean-up of my room there last month and after having the TV nearly 2 years decided that the manuals would just gather more dust.

I've connected the cable into the TV and laptop, but nothing.
