I wonder if anyone could explain my odd problem please?
The yahoo weather and stocks apps and google earth will not connect to my home network. They work fine on the network at work. My mac mini will connect at home to the desktop version without problem.
Should I disable the firewall on my router maybe?
Could it be something to do with my dsl provider, vodafone?
I am using an iPod touch with latest firmware

    Hi ashleey

We have discovered that there seems to be a problem with Vodafone. I have VF Mobile BB and apps like weather and you tube stopped working.

If you log into your home router and change the DNS settings to be

    (DNS 1) 8.8.8.8
    (DNS 2) 8.8.8.4

Reboot and try again, the apps should work.

Appreciate the help. Vodafone seem to be pulling all sorts of strange tricks. Having problems due to them dropping my ip address every 24 hours also. Similarly rte mobile site won't work on safari on the touch. Strange.
I just watched a bbc reporter trying to access western sites in china. Are vodafone employing censorship at home?

Great signature by the way. Luckily I don't surf to anything unsuitable (under current Govt. rules)

sorry if this seems stupid, but how do you ' log into your home router and change the DNS settings'?

    Change it on your phone.

Go to settings, wifi, chose your connection and change the DNS there to 8.8.8.8 and it should work fine.

Thats what I did and I'm on a vodafone at home connection.

    Hi

You router should have an IP Address like 10.169.x.x

If you enter this into your browser, it should launch the control panel for your router,

Log into the router as admin and you can change the DNS settings.

The supplier of the router should tell you the IP address of the router its self or it should have the address and default password in the manual.
