Herd number application

Does anyone know off the top of their head what is the minimum number of hectares you need to apply for a herd number? The brother-in-law is looking at buying a bit of land beside his house and wants to know. He got all the requirements relating to feeding and handling facilities etc from the department but the actual amount of land you need seems to be a trickier question altogether!

Yeah I've seen that document alright but as I said it doesn't give any information on minimum land requirements. From memory it used to be around 2 or 2.5Ha but i think it increased drastically in the last couple of years

Just applied myself,
No minium, although my inspector is very helpfull and supportive.

No minimum area require as the number is to allow the dept control animal registration, movement, disease etc etc. There is a minimum area for the disadvantaged area scheme.
