My Macbook DVD Combo drive just packed up spitting out all disks and its out of warrenty so i've look for a external CD/DVD RW to keep it going rather than getting a new one. Anyone suggest one that is MAC Compat? Just wondering with Regards external DVD drives can you boot from them aswell?

My Macbook originally came for the US so in order to watch DVD's I bought a replacement superdrive/combo drive on ebay for 60 euro. Fairly easy to replace, just make sure the drive is compatible with your macbook.

    hi powerhousedan,

you are right the slimdrive doesn't work with anything other than an airbook , i bought one when i started having problems with my mac mini thinking usb is usb , well its not in the apple world  .

so the advice i got from fellow board members is to go for an external drive , what about this one ??

    hope this helps

I'm using a Macbook Air 8x Superdrive Region 1 (Model MB397G/A) with a mac mini. No issues with it so far.

My brother-in-law has the MacBook Air SuperDrive working with a Mac Mini and it's not a server.
