    Hi guys,

We're having Michael Nugent, Chairman of Atheist.ie on for interview on the radio show that I run tonight. We shall be discussing his recent campaign against the Blasphemy Law that has garnered massive media attention and gotten over 7,500 supporters on their Facebook page.

I would like to open the floor here to any questions boards.ie posters may have for him. Questions can be pro- or anti-his campaign...though obviously I won't be asking any questions that are likely to offend, so please don't post them. I'll post a link after the show tonight so people can hear him answer their questions.

    Thanks in advance!

I'd like to know how confident is he of it being repealed. Sadly, I can't see it happening.:(

Looking forward to hearing the interview.

Is the idea behind AI's campaign to actually have a charge of blasphemy made against them? If so, I'd like to to know how he's hoping to get around the the allowance for blasphemous statements with political merit.

Edit: I'd like to wish him luck with the campaign, as well.

No specific question but would like to wish him the best of luck in getting this luatic law repealed.

I've been wondering if the "outraged" group has to be located in Ireland because I'd love to see an international Internet campaign of outrage started by a slight on the FSM or the Jedi Church published in Ireland.

There is not a "man" campaigning against the blasphemy law there is a wide spectrum of people from all walks of life including comedians and politicians who have spoken out against it and quite a few journalists who have written against it. Atheist Ireland has almost three hundred other members.

Ask him is he the Pope of Irish Atheists?

PS: what radio station is it?

Can you please ask him would he mind pushing for a new law that protects political views? I don't like people questioning and criticizing my political beliefs.

92.5 Phoenix FM at 10pm, according to iTunes.

Edit: I see here http://www.iolfree.ie/~phoenixfm/ that they have an Interfaith show at 8 pm.

    Thank you most kindly.
I don't think I'll tune in. With this kind of thing the arguments tend to read like a playlist of a band on a world tour. If you caught the show in one venue you've caught the show....

I went to the website at 10 pm, seemed to be only playing music?
Or did you mean it was on at 8?

Thanks for the questions guys! Unfortunately, the Phoenix website is still in test mode so streaming won't be available for a few weeks. But the interview is online for download or streaming anyway:

    Steam via Podbean: http://angermanagement.podbean.com/2010/01/14/best-of-amt-michael-nugent-interview/

Hope this answers some of your Q's! Cheers again!

EDIT: I posted some additional information on our Facebook page, including the statement from the Department in full, for those who are interested:

Great work, guys. I enjoyed that - interesting and informative without insulting anyone or expressing too much shock and outrage.

I take it you're with the People's Front of Atheism then? Traitor!

I still don't understand why so many of Atheist Ireland's "25 Blasphemous Quotations that could be considered illegal" relate to material that could clearly be shown to have "genuine literary, artistic, political, scientific, or academic value".

Or maybe I do understand and am just annoyed about it.

Yeah I'm fuzzy on this point too. Don't see how this challenge has a chance of succeeding. (I haven't listened to podcast thingy if the answer in there I would love for someone to explain please :) )

I don't care, This one of those stupid laws that may be safely ignored, no one will ever be prosecuted on this and if they did, it wouldn't succeed.
The headline of this article expresses my feelings best:

    http://twentymajor.net/2009/04/29/ill-blaspheme-who-i-want-you-godfearing-****-ahern/

The above link doesn't work because the stars cover up the word cnut (anagram)
    So, let's get started:
All I said was that this piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah. ...
