Block on this forum for all non-atheists

I propose that all posters who adopt a non-atheist viewpoint should be deleted from this post [TEXT DELETED AS PER RECENT NOTE].

When people ask me questions about my atheism that don't conform to my own personal view of the world I find it very upsetting. I don't like questions as my views are very fragile and questions make me think - which hurts

Thanks in advance for your help atheist moderators.

And what exactly should non-non-atheists post in this thread?

I quite enjoy taking the piss out of religion / the religious. However, I dont come on to boards.ie to have arguements about it. Its pointless.

So I gather that the dumb christians go deleting the posts from athiests?

    +1

Being posting on the Christianity forum with ages. I don't think I've even had a single post censored yet *Wears Halo*. They still allow you to express your views as long as [TEXT DELETED AS PER RECENT NOTE].

Either way, it would be hypocritical of atheists who argue that all ideals should be open to criticism to censor those who criticise atheists.

Only if you make a statement like "The bible is definitely not a reliable source of facts". I got an infraction for that one. But you can have a debate over there if you play by their rules. The debates here are much more open imo.

I think the OP is cunningly trying to highlight the fact that the Christianity forum is the place for Christians to tell each other they are right and the Atheist forum is the place to go for Christians to be told they might be wrong

    Sorry to hear it.

Taking your post at face value, rather than according to the ironic tone you probably mean, as you're aware, we have a policy in this forum of letting people voice their opinions freely, so long as they do so with a modicum of decorum. What you're proposing is the incentivization of offence-taking, vaguely equivalent to our recently enacted blasphemy legislation, and that has no place in any self-respecting forum. That position is unlikely ever to change here in A+A.

Yeah I don't post in Christianity anymore, I get warnings/infractions for the most minor things - even when I am not attacking the poster and being perfectly civil. I suppose the original purpose of the Christianity was for a christian community where they could discuss......stuff....and if they don't want to face up to the problems with christianity they don't have to. So I just avoid it now.

There will be no block and this thread should be in Feedback, not here.

I suggest you grow a thicker skin or don't read the forum.

I guess that appendix scar was really caused by a sniper in Vietnam? ;)

While such war stories might impress the natives - you and I both know you've never been infracted in the Christianity Forum.

Nothing scares me more than people who think they are 100% right. Calibos' comment was bang on the button.

Ok I was clearly taking a childish attitude to it but I was just more than a little frustrated.

I'm new enough to this forum stuff so I was surprised to find that your post can be deleted if not deemed suitable. That's ok for something clear inflamatory but it still happens no matter how civil.

I replied to a guy in the christianity forum who had recently lost a friend and felt really guilty about not believing in god - questioning, had he lost some of his humanity?

I gave my simple re-assurance that he should find his own way, was going thru enough without extra baggage. That was deleted while they come into this forum to espouse their own views.

Just seems a bit one sided. Although I am not really that worried about it but just thought I'd get some other opinions. Why can't we delete a few theist posts just to see the reaction?

I said "warnings/infractions" in my post.

I have been warned twice, once by [REMOVED] and once before your reign. But anyway like I said I don't post there anymore - problem solved, everybody is happy.

Ah Ok. I have received several warnings/decapitations in this forum. I'm happy too. :)

    Don't worry iUseVi - I believe you.

The christianity forum is definitely not the place to raise awkward questions.

Don't rock the boat boyo !!!

Quite apart from the wastage of moderators' time, it's mainly for the reason I mentioned above, that no self-respecting forum should incentivize offence-taking.

    Sheesh, PDN!

Without checking, I'd imagine that you've brought up moderation in the christianity forum more than any other single poster!

If you really do want to discuss it, then fair enough, I'm sure we can reverse the decision we made the other day about not discussing it and editing posts that do, and we can duke it out, but for the moment, I think it's best for inter-forum peace that we try to avoid it :)

It has already been pointed out to you (more than once) that this isn't the place to discuss the Christianity forum. Our Charter (which I'm sure you've read) reflects this.

Escalate your gripe to Feedback, or stop worrying and get on with your life.

Its called being a bigger person. We are confident in our views, so dont need to use the petty, fearful and dishonest acts that, as robindch said, has no place in any self-respecting forum.

A thread complaining about alleged censorship in another forum results in the original post getting, erm, censored. Love the irony![/QUOTE]Almost.

There's a subtle but important difference between, on the one hand, censoring topics which are limited by general site convention to the Feedback forum, and on the other hand, to censoring topics which are distasteful to certain religions.

The first is a convention intended to reduce flamage in the general interests of the site at large (a bit like agreeing to hold boxing matches in certain places only), while the latter prevents free discussion in the interests of the religions concerned (a bit like discussing things in a church).

    Seconded.

This thread has caused enough flapping and general chatter about moderation policy in this and other forums that I think it's best closed.

    Move along now.
